Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

The Côte d'Azur is one of the world’s most seductive stretches and at its enchanting epicentre is Nice and its most famous thoroughfare…

Promenade des Anglais: cheek-to-cheek with the gorgeous Baie des Anges beaches
Promenade des Anglais, Nice

Nice really is the jewel in the crown of the French Riviera and at its elegant heart lies its most famous street: the Promenade des Anglais.

It’s a beyond-charming stretch that veers into the horizon cheek-to-cheek with the gorgeous Baie des Anges beaches attracting the oi polloi to bathe, stroll, cycle and people-watch the day away.

It plays host to 19th-century aristocratic digs, the Villa Masséna, now an art and history museum; Palais de la Méditerranée, in all its sumptuous art deco glory; and the mythical Le Negresco hotel, world famous for its opulent interiors, bourgeois clientele and finer-than-fine dining.

Tourists flock to the open-air Provençal market at the Cours Saleya – just off the Promenade des Anglais – to gather fresh fruits, flowers, veg, and local artisan delights. A short walk takes you to Nice’s original open-air park, the Jardin Albert Ier lined with pine trees, roses and fountains. And during the hot months the outdoor Theâtre de Verdure entertains its cultured throng with typically discerning concerts and performances.

It's elegance and prestige personified. And it's only a few clicks away…
