Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

Airlines and routes,

Seattle may be known for its all-year-round drizzly weather, but there is so much more to this city with its diverse and natural beauty. Even though it rains a lot, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t explore the unique and exciting outdoor activities this city offers. From discovering the historic music scene to tasting the freshest seafood dishes, here are some of the top things to do in this gorgeous Emerald City.

Treat your palate at Pike Place Market

Located in the heart of the city and referred to as “the soul of Seattle” is the famous Pike Place Market, offering a wonderful array of shops and foodie spots for visitors. It is one of the most iconic places to visit in Seattle and is guaranteed to give you a great day out as well as satisfy your tastebuds.

Visitors can watch seafood vendors fling fishy favourites from one part of a store to another, and whilst most may enjoy the spectacle, the super fresh fillets and shellfish make for an unforgettable meal that’ll tantalise your tastebuds.

The Pike Place Market is the most impressive and visited landmark in Seattle and is a must-see if you are visiting the city. It has something for everyone, from the best clam chowder in the area to the tastiest Italian food to indulge in.

Swoon over the spectacular views at Space Needle

Another iconic landmark in Seattle that is well worth a visit is the iconic Space Needle. The very tall landmark was built back in 1962 and was originally constructed to be part of the World’s Fair. Today, it boasts the most spectacular views of the city and offers a great experience during a trip to Seattle.

It is a great place to see many famous landmarks in the city from up high, such as the Olympic Mountains, Cascades, Mount Rainer and the beautiful Seattle skyline.

The Space Needle has continued to evolve over the years, and it now has titling glass walls, otherwise called Skyrisers, that create a floating effect and a revolving glass floor that provides a spinning experience for visitors. You can also grab a quick drink or snack if you fancy taking in the view for a bit longer.

Feed your creativity at Chihuly Garden and Glass

Just a stone’s throw away from the Space Needle is the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, so they are ideal to visit on the same day. It is a unique and fascinating visual experience, showcasing the epic work of Dale Chihuly, a famous North-western glass artist.

The museum is home to a series of incredible glass-blowing pieces that are sure to blow your mind. The garden holds a particularly impressive series of sculptures as glass pieces intertwine with plants to create an explosion of colour.

There are eight indoor galleries to explore and the lush outdoor space, so you will be filled with awe as you walk around this inspiring museum. You get varied experiences depending on whether you visit during the day or at night, as the sculptures are illuminated in the dark. The museum's highlight is the 100-foot glass sculpture suspended in a glass conservatory, Chihuly’s biggest piece of art to date.
