Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

The natural surroundings are second-to-none

You will be breath-taken from the moment you set eyes on the gorgeous islands. There are over 1,000 of them, all lined with floating luxury huts that look onto the clearest waters filled with the most spectacular wildlife.

This tropical wonderland is the perfect place to get up and close with nature and interact with deep-sea wildlife like you never have before. Ditch the wetsuit and oxygen tank and simply paddle in the clear, warm shallows of the blue sea filled with an array of wildlife and colour corals. You can also swim with spectacular sea life, such as turtles, sharks and dolphins.

If you want to see something a bit more exotic and rarer to the region, then you can head into the Hanifaru Marine Protected Area for sights of iconic clownfish, manta rays and a lot more amazing sea wildlife at the exciting snorkelling and scuba diving sites.

The beautiful natural scenes continue way into the night as plankton light up the water as if the dark oasis is filled with sparkling stars for a totally magical evening. The Maldives provides a special atmosphere throughout the entire day that will capture your heart and provide you with unforgettable memories for a lifetime.

Couples can enjoy lots of alone time on these private resort islands and escape into their own bubble in their own water villa, equipped with everything they need from room service to a personal pool.

A honeymoon or romantic getaway can be tailor-made to suit exactly what you are looking for and be in line with your budget as well. Mull over the marvel of the Maldives

Even though the Maldives’ islands are home to some of the most stunning and untouched natural beauty in the world, there is a lot more to this place than meets the eye. The Capital city, Malé, is a central hub for history and culture amongst the other islands.

Sultan Park is home to a variety of attractions that are all within proximity for a fun-filled day out. In one day, holidaymakers can explore the famous Friday Mosque which was built in the 17th Century, take a tour of the Old National Museum showcasing relics from the Buddhist kings and Islamic sultanates, then end the day with a visit to the National Library and Art gallery to view the work of local artists.

If you’re after even more culture and adventure then take a trip to Alifu Atoll to visit the home and birthplace of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu, honoured for his campaign against the Portuguese after their invasion in the 1500s.

The combination of exceptional natural beauty, sunny all-year round weather, and interesting cultural spots means there is something for everyone at the Maldives. Encounter fascinating historical relics and stunning wildlife all in one place, where dreams really do become a reality.
