Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.


Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

Bus and Coach

Heathrow is well served by local bus and national coaches, giving you the option to travel easily and sustainably to and from work. Some services operate very early in the morning and late at night. Several also operate through the night and many offer discounts and concessions for Team Heathrow.

The Heathrow Express (HEx) is the fastest way to travel between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals. Scheduled to take 15 minutes to Terminals 2 and 3, and just another 6 minutes to Terminal 5, HEx is fast and reliable.

Transport for London provides a stopping service between Paddington Station and Heathrow, calling at local stations in west London.

The Piccadilly line provides a vital link between central London and Heathrow. A frequent service means you won't be waiting long, and the journey from central London to the airport takes less than an hour. Heathrow has three London Underground stations with access to the Piccadilly line – one between Terminals 2 and 3, and one each at Terminal 4 and Terminal 5.

You can access Heathrow via rail services from Reading and the west with a change at West Drayton or Hayes and Harlington. For more information on routes and timetables, check the GWR website or call GWR customer service on 0345 7000 125.

Rail discounts

Travel for free between all Terminals and Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly line, or between Terminals on Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line services.

Park & Ride

Let someone else do the driving to Heathrow, whilst you catch up on the news, check your emails or simply relax.

High Wycombe Park & Ride at Handy Cross (just off junction 4 of the M40) provides up to 96 hours (4 days) free parking for users of The Airline coach service.

The comfortable, air-conditioned coaches drop you right outside Terminal 5, next to Compass Centre, or at the Central Bus station. To park for free, you must ask the driver of the coach for a parking voucher so you can activate the exit barrier at the car park. 

  • Single (one way) - £8.00 (buy from the driver or on the Oxford Bus App).
  • Same day return - £9.00 (buy from the driver).
  • Next day return - £9.00 (buy from the driver).
  • Period return (e.g. up to 96 hours later) - £15.00 (buy from the driver).
  • 1 Week - unlimited travel (including buses to High Wycombe) - £35 (buy on the Carousel Buses app).
  • 1 Month - unlimited travel (including buses in High Wycombe) - £99.00 (buy on the Carousel Buses app).
  • 12 Trip (Heathrow ID required) - £70.00 (buy on the Oxford Bus app).
  • 1 year - unlimited travel (including buses in High Wycombe) - £1,000 (buy online).

No, you do not need to park to use the service. If returning from Heathrow the same day, it is also possible to travel to Handy Cross on board the number 8, X8 or 34 buses for no additional cost. Just purchase a 1-day Zone A/B/C + Heathrow ticket for £9.00 on the Carousel Buses app.

Thames Valley Park & Ride is located at Thames Valley Park, east of Reading (west of the roundabout between the A3290 and Thames Valley Park Drive).

Hop-on to RailAir’s RA1 from Reading, which operates up to every 30 minutes, with journey times to Heathrow as little as 40 mins. The service calls at Thames Valley P&R, where Team Heathrow can park for free for up to 96 hours (on the ticket machines, click “Corporate Use Only” and enter this PIN - A4871. then enter car registration and select expiry time). Retain your ticket - no need to display in your car.
