London Underground strike action: 21-24 April

Due to planned strike action, there will be little to no service across all London Underground services, including the Piccadilly line to Heathrow, between 21 and 24 April 2026

Heathrow Express, Elizabeth line, and local bus services will run as normal on these days. Please plan your journey prior to travelling to Heathrow, and allow for extra time where necessary, as these services will be busier than normal.

St. George's Chapel

Heathrow’s Chapel of St. George was opened in 1968 as a joint initiative of Anglican, Roman Catholic and Free Churches.

For more than 50 years, St Georges Chapel has offered a quiet place for travellers and airport colleagues to join in Christian worship. It is unusual in being located underground, accessed down a spiral staircase.

Occasional Masses will take place on other Holy Days of Obligation and Solemnities, but these are very variable.

Please note, the Chapel is not open to drop in, however the Memorial Garden remains available as a place for quiet, reflection and prayer.

Garden of Remembrance

At ground level, the Garden of Remembrance is a sheltered courtyard, built directly over the Chapel, whose walls hold a large variety of plaques in memory of both airport colleagues and flights lost. Any company based at Heathrow wanting to commemorate a colleague who has died with a plaque in the garden should contact the chaplaincy team at the address below. There are wooden benches and flower beds, creating an attractive location for those in need of a peaceful place away from the hubbub of the terminals, or for airport colleagues to enjoy a quiet lunch break. Some beautiful artwork around the walls of the Garden offers helpful suggestions for active contemplation.
