Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

ULEZ: Travelling to Heathrow Airport

Find out about the expansion of London's Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ), and how it affects Heathrow passengers.

Heathrow Airport is in ULEZ

From 29 August 2023, London's Ultra Low Emission Zone, or ULEZ, has expanded to encompass all of Greater London, including Heathrow Airport.

The initiative, implemented by Transport for London (TfL), is aimed at reducing air pollution in London. From the 29 August 2023, Heathrow, and all of its Terminals (2, 3, 4 & 5), became part of this zone, meaning that all vehicles entering the airport must meet certain emissions standards in order to avoid paying a daily charge.

What is the daily charge for entering ULEZ?

The daily charge for non-compliant vehicles is £12.50 for most vehicles, including cars, vans, and motorcycles. The charge will be in addition to any other fees or charges associated with entering the airport.

Please note, the daily charge is only applicable when a vehicle is driven within the ULEZ zone and does not apply when a vehicle remains stationary.

For further guidance as to the areas included within the expanded ULEZ, please refer to our ULEZ map (above), highlighting the boundaries for the expanded zone, the context around Heathrow's position, and where the M25 and M4 are located in relation to the zone.

How do I check if my vehicle meets the ULEZ standards?

Check if your vehicle is ULEZ compliant using TfL's vehicle checker.

How do I pay the ULEZ charge?

Visit TfL’s paying the ULEZ charge page to find full details of how to pay. You may be issued a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for failure to pay within the required timeframe.

How can I check if I live, work or drive through the zone?

Use TfL's postcode checker to see if you’ll be living or driving in the expanded zone.

ULEZ FAQs

Heathrow became part of the expanded Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on 29 August 2023, as the initiative expanded to encompass all of London's boroughs.

The daily ULEZ charge only applies when a vehicle is driven within the zone and does not apply to stationary vehicles, including when vehicles are parked at Heathrow. Therefore, payment would only be necessary when arriving or leaving the airport if you have a non-compliant vehicle.

Vehicles that are compliant with the ULEZ standards will still be able to drive in the zone without charge.

The daily charge for non-compliant vehicles is £12.50 for most vehicles, including cars, vans, and motorcycles.

Please note, the charge for non-compliant vehicles will be in addition to any other fees or charges associated with entering the airport.

Yes, Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 all fall within the ULEZ zone. Any passengers using facilities including the Terminal Drop-off Areas, Short Stay, or Long Stay car parks, driving a non-compliant vehicle, will be required to pay the daily charge.

If you need to pay the ULEZ charge, a daily charge runs from midnight to midnight, every day of the year (except for Christmas Day). That means that if you drive a non-compliant vehicle within the ULEZ area across two days, you will need to pay two daily charges.

If you drive within the zone, you'll have to pay by midnight on the third day following the journey. Failure to pay on time could result in you receiving a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
