Saudi Arabia’s Capital city, Riyadh has a tonne of fun and exciting places to visit and experiences to delve into that’ll make you feel like a real local. Whether it’s a long stay or a shorter visit, you can get a real taste of what this Middle Eastern city has to offer in just a few days.
This is an absolute must-do in Riyadh City, especially if you are a sucker for a good view and love a great panoramic shot of a city. Head to the Kingdom Tower, which is home to the famous Skybridge, and take in the breathtaking views of the entire city.
Skybridge offers a 360 view of the entire city, and it is an impressive way to see everything around you for miles and miles. The Kingdom Tower is one of the most famous-looking buildings in Riyadh (resembling a bottle opener), which also has a massive shopping mall inside if you fancy some retail therapy after taking in the incredible views.
It is best to go to Skybridge when the weather is clear and free from haziness or dustiness from any sudden sandstorms.
If you would like to learn a bit more about Saudi Arabia and the history of the country, then pay a visit to The National Museum of Saudi Arabia. It is an educational and cost-efficient activity, with tickets only costing 10SAR (approximately £2).
The museum is quite big in size and has 2 floors, filled with everything there is to know about Saudi Arabia, so give yourself at least 1-2 hours to fully appreciate everything it has to offer.
It may be a good idea to visit the museum on your first day in Riyadh as it may give you a better understanding of the history of the Kingdom and the Islamic practices of the country.
One of the main spots in Riyadh City that visitors have to visit to truly appreciate the culture and history of Saudi Arabia is Deera Square. It is a great place to visit if you enjoy wondering around a new city on foot and immersing yourself in local culture.
Deera Square is filled with main and side streets that are lined with lots of local shops to help tourists feel like a local.
The best time of day to visit Deera Square is in the afternoon when temperatures cool down a bit so you aren’t struggling in the extreme heat. It is also a good idea to visit before the sun sets and it becomes too dark to walk around the area.
