Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

A Perfectly British sparkling wine bestows upon Heathrow

It’s time to raise your glasses as Nyetimber makes its grand entrance to Heathrow. It’s now easier than ever to kick start your holiday in style with a glass of delicious sparkling wine from Nyetimber. This beautifully British wine can only be found in one other UK airport, so don’t miss out on sipping this exclusive luxury number at Heathrow.

Decades of passion to achieve perfect taste and quality

The story of Nyetimber starts all the way back in 1086 when the Nyetimber estate was mentioned in the Domesday book and later became under the possession of King Henry VIII. The first vines were planted nearly 1000 years later in 1988 and the elite sparkling wine grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier quickly found a place to call home.

Nyetimber has gone on to meet immeasurable success and reach its true potential in the winemaking industry over the years. Its ideal soil and location, combined with the talent of Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs and Senior Winemaker Brad Greatrix, has had ground-breaking results. Along with Eric Heerema, the Owner & CEO of Nyetimber, their shared vision for producing the finest English sparkling wines has resulted in Nyetimber receiving global acclaim and international awards.

It is even the drink of choice for the Royals, with HRH King Charles having served Nyetimber Sparkling Wine instead of champagne back in the day at Highgrove. It was quickly shared amongst institutions like a best kept secret and became a firm favourite at 10 Downing Street, as well as replacing champagne at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012.

Producing supreme sparkles in every glass

The story of Nyetimber is one of decades of craftsmanship, passion, and a pioneering spirit. They have an uncompromising attention to detail, driving them to create the very finest expressions of the estate. The grapes used to produce each bottle of wine are 100% estate-owned, and are completely exclusive to Nyetimber. They pride themselves on not buying grapes from other wineries nor selling their homegrown grapes to other wine producers.

High standards and best results are engraved into Nyetimber’s DNA, so much so that they have gone as far as not producing a single drop of wine if the harvest was not up to their high expectations, as was the case in 2012. They would rather miss a season than produce sub-standard wine that their loyal customers wouldn’t enjoy or savour with every sip.

Even the way they grow their grapes is incredibly thought out and intentional, making sure that the vineyards face south to allow better ripening, and are sheltered from coastal weather by the nearby South Downs.

Additionally, Nyetimber provides the history of each bottle they produce, which customers can find out about by entering the unique number at the back of each bottle into their website.

Award-winning wine that is truly sublime

Nyetimber’s efforts and dedication to producing exceptional wines certainly didn’t go unnoticed, with their Blanc de Blancs 2003 Magnum being awarded a Gold Medal and Best in Class Trophy in 2014. It surpassed other numbers regarded as the very best in the world of Champagne.

Nyetimber’s Head Winemaker, Cherie Spriggs, won the Sparkling Winemaker of the Year in 2018, one of the most highly-regarded wine competitions in the world. It was a massive achievement and monumental moment, as it was the first time that the annual prize had been awarded to a winemaker outside of Champagne in the history of the International Wine Challenge.
