Heathrow rail engineering works: 16 & 17 November

Due to planned engineering works, there will be no Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services to or from Heathrow on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November.

Piccadilly line services will be running as normal on both days.

Passengers should plan their journeys before travelling, and allow for additional time where necessary as trains that are running will be much busier than normal.

Handy Heathrow hacks

As one of Europe’s busiest airports, Heathrow is a constant hub of travellers eagerly navigating security gates and passport checks to board the planes, jetting off to their exotic destinations. And while Heathrow is one of the most passenger-friendly airports in the world, we thought we’d help make your airport experience even easier and more enjoyable with these handy hacks!

  1. Charge your phone up for free before your flight

Did you know that you can be denied boarding a flight if you’re unable to switch on your phone? To avoid such a disastrous situation, ensure your phone has a good battery life before boarding. You can do this by charging it in one of the several charging points scattered around the terminals. The best thing is that you can do so for free!

  2. Eat and drink to your heart’s content before jetting off

Heathrow is home to incredibly comfortable and cosy lounges that allow you to enjoy the airport wait, especially if you’re flight is unexpectedly delayed. They are also reasonably priced, so you won’t have to break the bank if you enter a lounge.

You can find No.1 Lounges and Plaza Premium Lounges in all terminals, offering fabulous amenities, such as comfortable seating areas, quiet workspaces, reading materials and cinemas. You can also take advantage of the unlimited food and drink available.

You can pre-book the lounges online or pay a walk-in price at the door (although if they are at capacity, you may be turned away).

  3. Find the best food to take on your flight

If you don’t fancy paying an extortionate amount onboard to purchase snacks to feed your hunger, stock up on some pretty tasty food you can get a lot cheaper at the airport. You can buy incredible picnic hampers from Gordon Ramsey packed with delicious and nutritious meals. Or, if you’d like to keep it more low-key, opt for a yummy sandwich or salad from the likes of Pret.

    Browse all restaurants

  4. Safely store your luggage at the airport

If London is just a quick pit stop for you during your travels, then you can store any smaller and extra pieces of luggage you don’t want to lug about the city in baggage offices located in each of the terminals.
